Jeremy Ring leads Velocity Advisors Group’s SLED advisory practice. He brings experience from both the private sector and public service, offering clients practical insight into how government decisions are made and how companies can successfully align with them.
Jeremy is an accomplished business leader, former elected official and accomplished author. He was a 10-year Florida State Senator (2006-2016). Post the Florida Senate, he was the 2018 Democratic nominee for the Chief Financial Officer for Florida.
Jeremy is an internet pioneer, helping to develop one of the very first ever internet advertising campaigns for MCI Communications. At 24 years old he was brought on as the first sales hire for Yahoo. It was then he launched the New York office of the company out of his apartment. After relocating to Silicon Valley, Ring built and led the Sales Programs Division, working with hundreds of the Fortune 500 companies to ensure greatest return on their advertising campaigns. He was an instrumental part of the early team that helped Yahoo become a $120 Billion market cap behemoth that changed the world.
Post Yahoo, he was an Operating Partner for Chicago based Sterling Partners. In addition, Jeremy was a Venture Partner with Clearsky Ventures. Ring is the co-founder of Collegiate Images, a college sports licensing company, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, which was sold to XOS technologies.
As a State Senator, Jeremy founded the Florida Institute of Commercialization. Based at the University of Florida, the incubator launched 75 technology companies. In addition, legislation authored by Senator Ring, created the $1 billion Florida Growth Fund, a late stage growth fund that invests in Florida technologies companies. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Senator Ring Chairman of the Florida Commission on Bio-Technology Competitiveness and as a member of the Florida High Speed Rail Commission.
Jeremy authored the book "We Were Yahoo". (Post Hill Press, 2018) about the rise and fall of Yahoo. He has been featured in countless media venues such as Forbes, Business Week, Time, Newsweek, Fortune, CNN, Fox Business and USA Today.
He received his Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University and in currently matriculated at Harvard Business School General Management Program.

Congressman Al Lawson brings decades of public service and legislative leadership to his work on behalf of Florida’s communities to Velocity Advisors. With experience at both the state and federal levels, he offers deep insight into how government operates, how funding decisions are made, and how policy translates into real-world impact for constituents and businesses alike.
Congressman Lawson served in the United States House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023, representing Florida in Congress. During his tenure, he served on the House Committee on Financial Services and was a member of the House Agriculture Committee, where he focused on economic development, small business growth, infrastructure investment, and expanding access to capital in underserved communities.
Prior to his service in Congress, Lawson spent 28 years in the Florida Legislature, serving in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate. Throughout his legislative career, he was widely recognized for his work on education funding, economic opportunity, workforce development, and bipartisan collaboration.
Before entering public office, Congressman Lawson was a longtime educator and small business owner. He served as a coach and administrator at Florida A&M University, where he built a nationally respected athletics program and mentored generations of student-athletes.
A graduate of Florida A&M University, Lawson earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the institution. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to public service, education, and economic advancement for the communities he represents.


John Reid brings decades of legal experience across government, administrative, civil litigation, and public law. He is the Founder of the Law Office of John Reid PLLC, where he represents clients in administrative law matters, civil litigation, family law, state appeals, and governmental relations.
John serves as Board Counsel to the Tallahassee Independent Ethics Board, advising on enforcement, training, and compliance matters, and played a key role in drafting the City of Tallahassee’s modernized ethics code. He also serves as Town Attorney for the Town of Greenville, where he drafts ordinances, advises elected officials, and oversees revisions to the town charter and municipal code.
An experienced administrative law practitioner, John represents clients statewide in actions before the Division of Administrative Hearings, with a focus on regulatory compliance, professional licensure, and state disciplinary matters. He is a frequent speaker on constitutional law, ethics, public records, and sunshine laws, and regularly engages in public policy discussions in the Tallahassee community.
John is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and is admitted to practice in Florida and the District of Columbia, as well as before multiple federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Nancy brings over 15 years of public affairs, government affairs, and political consulting experience to Velocity Advisors. She has worked on top-tier races in New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Florida as a senior political advisor and senior finance consultant. Nancy has also advocated and crafted messaging strategies on the state and federal levels for dozens of interests including Fortune 500 companies, regional businesses and non-profit organizations. Throughout her career, she has maintained a passion for shepherding good public policy through the maze of government.
In the 2018 Election Cycle, Nancy oversaw fundraising for the FL Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, which directs all Republican state senate campaigns in FL. She and her team raised over 48 million dollars, breaking the US record for the most money ever collectively raised by a state legislative caucus. She has also been a fundraiser and senior political advisor for FL’s current Senate President for over six years.
As a bi-partisan consultant, Nancy got her start at the NJ Democratic Party, focused on races in Bergen and Hudson Counties before being named Regional Political Director for Joe Lieberman’s presidential race in NH. She then moved to Florida and was quickly promoted to Caucus Director for the Senate Democrats, where she oversaw a record-breaking fundraising operation for the group. Nancy then consulted with the DCCC on Congressman Al Lawson’s top-tier targeted campaign and has continued to consult for the Congressman through his tenure in Congress.
Nancy, a native of Massachusetts, loves living in "wicked warm" Florida with her two dogs, Lady Bird and Wheelie Nelson.
Nancy has an undergraduate degree in English and Political Science from Quinnipiac University and studied Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University. In addition, she attended Yale University studying The Politics of Urban Change while interning at the CT Legislature. Nancy also interned at the US-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC as a research analysist and publication contributor.


Rob Katz is a seasoned executive and entrepreneur with a track record of building and growing companies at scale. He served as CEO and Co-Founder of Webonise, a global technology consultancy, where he led nearly 300 professionals with a global footprint for more than a decade.
Previously, Rob served as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Communications at Lulu.com, the online self-publishing company founded by Red Hat’s Bob Young. During a period of rapid growth, he led global sales, marketing, and strategic partnerships. He was also Co-Founder of Convizion and Collegiate Images, the exclusive content aggregation and licensing arm for college sports, representing more than 200 collegiate rightsholders nationwide.
Rob’s background includes senior executive roles across major sports and entertainment properties. He served as Chief Operating Officer and interim General Manager of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for International Speedway Corporation’s Homestead-Miami Speedway, Senior Director of Marketing and Promotions for the Tampa Bay Rays, and held business operations roles with the Florida (Miami) Marlins and Pro Player (Hard Rock) Stadium. He also led corporate sales and marketing initiatives for the PGA Tour’s Ford Championship at Doral.
Rob is a graduate of the University of Florida and holds an Executive Certificate in Advanced Negotiations from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

Elijah was previously a Research Analyst at Spire Global, where he honed his skills in contact acquisition and market research.
He has also worked in the offices of numerous Florida State senators and is a Congressional Fellow in the office of Congresswoman Frederica Wilson,(Florida's 24th Congressional District) Elijah was an early member of the Velocity operations team, and uses his skills in research to provide the best possible list of contacts for clients.
